Eva Weber is a freelance designer whose work is based on observations, everyday phenomena and the everyday itself. She creates in and from the various microcosms that surround her, in which she moves with others. She asks about interaction and contact on the outside, searches for fragments and artefacts in the archive of existing narratives, which she rearranges and sorts contrary to conventional reception, constantly generating new perspectives. Eva Weber likes to play - with her creativity, words and linearity. Her projects are attempts to make the world and its surroundings comprehensible. (Text: Valerie Prinz)
"For the residency in Gmunden, I want to work with the available space and nature and allow for spontaneous reactions. One wish is to use the spatial possibilities of the garden to try out large formats. I see myself remaining true to my previous materials of paper and textiles. Themes that are currently on my mind: Comfort, body, alienation, living space, care, exchange, interaction.

The following works were created during her residency in Gmunden:
Segel Setzen
Blue plateau, white textile hanging, 3 Koshis, 2024
Leaving and sitting, how does that go together? Quite well in the Plateau Blo sauna. People discuss and debate while sweating together. A place to rest in between has been created on the blue plateau, secluded and cosy, yet permeable. A space to sway on the waves, to unwind, but also a forum where new plans can emerge.
Notizen
100×120 cm, textile, 4 pieces, 2024
Nimm Platz (Ich platze)
5 deckchairs, digital print on textile, 2024
The plants are bending with lush colour, the fruit is falling from the tree. We are bursting with joy - or anger? Where do you sit and how much space do you take up? The summery abundance in the garden and by the lake was captured in impulsive illustrations and transferred to 5 deckchairs that invite you to linger and rest. The picture thus becomes mobile, an object, merging with the garden and changing places. As a designer working at the interface between fine art and design, Eva Weber likes to scrutinise familiar applications and viewing habits.
