Flora + Martin Szurcsik-Nimmervoll
4 - 17 November 2024
Flora + Martin Szurcsik-Nimmervoll work in the fields of fine and applied arts, exhibition production and various forms of analogue and digital communication in a socio-political context. They use a variety of media, from photography to programming, as well as classical and contemporary craft techniques. The results of their artistic work are often interventions in (public) spaces or expansive constructions that invite use and interaction.
The two artists live and work in St. Pölten, Lower Austria, and are therefore particularly pleased to be part of the Capital of Culture project PLATEAU BLO as guests of the AVANTGARD/EN artist-in-residence programme. As good losers and ambassadors of art, Flora + Martin Szurcsik-Nimmervoll will launch a 5.5 m x 3 m animal, an inflated Passau wolf, the heraldic animal of the city of St. Pölten, specially designed and made for the residency and Lake Traunsee. The Passau wolf, in its tradition as a ‘common figure’, concretely questions themes of belonging, localisation and the concept of ‘home’. The animal in this installation also symbolises the freedom of art and the animal within us.
The artists will be working on site from 4 November - 17 November 2024.
We would like to thank our cooperation partners!
