Together with the team of the Urban Sauna Club*, Clemens Bauder with his Kombucha Bar, DJ SETS by raumarbeiterinnen & friends and our last residency guests Martin and Flora Szurcsik-Nimmervoll, we bid a fitting farewell to the Capital of Culture 2024! Let's review the year: How did we experience the Capital of Culture? What did we discover and create together?
Closing event Residency Flora and Martin:
Is an oversized pool animal, a large, blue, inflatable wolf from Passau, the art that our time deserves? We don't know for sure. But we are convinced that a discourse sauna is the art we need today and we firmly believe that every sauna, if it has a lake or a pool, can also use a pool animal. The Passau wolf, which settles in Lake Traunsee for a short time, is the heraldic animal of the city of St. Pölten, a city that would have loved to become the Capital of Culture. The Salzkammergut has become it and we are truly delighted with this choice. Maybe next time St. Pölten. Everything is fine as it is.
The artists Flora und Martin Szurcsik-Nimmervoll like to play on, like to play off and also like to plug in. Their artistic works are often interventions in (public) spaces or expansive constructions that invite use and interaction. The two artists live and work in St. Pölten, Lower Austria.
The crossing of the wolf and the sauna to the town hall square starts at 15:00 in the Toskanapark. Ride not possible!
Aufbruch Salzkammergut:
With two saunas - one on land (Urban Sauna Club*) and one in the water - we provide plenty of heat and cordially invite you to one last infusion with kombucha and DJ sets. It may not be the very last, but it will definitely be the last in the name of the Capital of Culture.
Come along, have a sauna and dance with us in your bathrobe and let's toast together with a glass of Kombucha!
If you would like to use the sauna, please bring a towel, swimwear, bathrobe and bathing shoes.
*The Urban Sauna Club brings its mobile sauna into the public space and challenges the familiar. A ritual of opposites is created between the asphalt and the sky - heat and sweat meet cold ground - intimacy meets anonymity. A space of encounter, created wherever tensions need to be released.
