SAUNA TALK#6

HAMAM, THE CULTURAL SAUNA

06 October 2024, 12 - 16h
Ebensee Trauneck

Sauna houses, hot baths and similar rooms for sweating exist in many cultures. From the American sweat lodge, the Japanese onsen, the classic Finnish sauna to the oriental hamam, different rooms are always associated with a similar ritual designed to make the body sweat. HAMAM, THE CULTURAL SAUNA takes the common practice of sweating as an opportunity to bring cultures together in the floating sauna. We invite cultural associations, residents, people interested in cultures and experts in cultural practices to discuss possible cultures of multiplicity in the sauna. What is it like with the different cultures here? How does the Moroccan tea room fit in with the traditional costume restaurant? Which traditions do we want to mix and how, in order to air out dirndls and lederhosen a little?
